A Story Woven
in the Lanes of
Chandni Chowk
Old Delhi · Since the Mughal Era
Jahanara Begum & the First Shop
When Emperor Shah Jahan's beloved daughter, Jahanara Begum, envisioned Chandni Chowk as the grandest marketplace of the Mughal Empire — she did not merely build a bazaar. She handpicked its artisans. Our ancestors were among the select craftsmen personally invited to set up their atelier on this legendary street.
Only those whose craft speaks of beauty and soul shall trade on this moonlit avenue.
— Attributed to Jahanara Begum, c.1650The original shop stood in Sadar Bazaar, trading exquisite jewellery, adornments and gifts for the Mughal court and its nobility.
The Lanes That Shaped Our Craft
As empires rose and fell, the lanes of Sadar Bazaar remained eternal. Through the decline of the Mughal court, the Maratha era and the arrival of the British, our family continued their craft — adapting, evolving, but never abandoning the traditions passed down through generations.
The craftsmen of Sadar Bazaar did not merely sell jewellery. They were keepers of a living tradition.
— Family oral historySilver filigree, meenakari enamel, kundan setting, German silver work — each technique absorbed and preserved in the narrow galis of Old Delhi.
SatoriBox is Born
In 1992, with India liberalising and a new generation of women discovering the joy of adornment, our family formalised what had been an ancestral practice into a modern brand — SatoriBox.
A flash of sudden beauty and awakening — the perfect name for the joy of opening a beautifully crafted box.
— SatoriBox, Est. 1992Still rooted in Sadar Bazaar. Still guided by the same craft, care and heritage that a Mughal princess once saw fit to invite to her moonlit avenue.
Old Delhi Craft, Modern Hearts
Today, SatoriBox carries that centuries-old soul into the digital age. Every piece is sourced from the same artisan communities of Old Delhi — craftsmen who learned their trade in the same narrow lanes where our story began.
Every SatoriBox that reaches your door carries a piece of Old Delhi's soul with it.
— SatoriBox, Est. 1992Loved by lakhs of women across India. Shipped from the heart of Delhi. Packed with the same love that Jahanara Begum's artisans once brought to the courts of the Mughal Empire.
370 Years of
Living Craft
From a royal invitation in the court of Shah Jahan's daughter, to the phones of lakhs of Indian women today — the thread of SatoriBox has never broken. We carry history forward, one beautifully wrapped box at a time.
